From a young age, Michael Fishman quickly discovered he had a passion for music. While growing up in Northern California, he started playing piano and guitar. He became inspired from drummers such as John Bonham and Philly Joe Jones and switched to drumming at the age of 7.

Growing up in the San Fransisco bay area,  Michael played in many different nieghborhood bands through middle school and high school.  Becoming enthralled with Jazz and Funk, he attended  Cabrillo college in Santa Cruz to study music performance. 

He spent time in the music scene in Santa Cruz, teaching and playing in the bay area before setting out to tour with friends.  After months of playing various cities around the United States he ended up settling in New Orleans.

Michael has played in many working groups w/ stlyes ranging through Cuban, Brazilian, Soca, Funk, Rock, Blues, Reggae, Jazz, Indie, Americana, Country, Pop, R&B, and Punk Rock.  He has experience playing all over the United States as well as some in Canada.  He dug into teaching drums in the Bywater nieghbordhood church of New Orleans pre pandemic.  Michael was quickly brought on to teach under the direction of New Orleans legend CR Gruver.  From there he became busy teaching thousands of hours of lessons, while cranking throught 5-7 gigs a week in the French Quarter of New Orleans.  Being a total nerd of western music history, as well as the history of popular drumming;  Michael is enthralled by the Second Line style of drumming which originated in New Orleans.  If you want to learn some "Nola feel" this is the man to talk to!

Michael has recentely relocated to the Central New York area with a desire to establish himself as a positive force in the community.
 He hopes to share his knowledge of drumming concepts and applying them to real world scenarios.  He has a serious passion for spreading excitement and a joy for engaging in the musical process.

 With patience and focus on the forefront of tackling any new concept, fun and improvement is the ultimate goal with Michael.
